Charles Law is a B.Sc. graduate of the Interaction Design program at Simon Fraser University, in Vancouver, Canada. He is currently working at AKQA in San Francisco as an Associate Interaction Designer. His strengths and talents include user-centered design, idea generation, team-based problem solving, and communication design. Charles believes that Interaction Design is a process involving deep understandings of social and cultural contexts in order to stitch together complex disconnections and ultimately cumulating in delightful outcomes.
ASSOCIATE INTERACTION DESIGNER, AKQA, SAN FRANCISCO, 2009-CURRENT
Currently working as an Associate Interaction Designer at internationally renowned creative agency, AKQA. I am responsible for crafting and defining the behavior and logic of user experiences across multiple product platforms and services. My intentions are to always create elegant and purposeful results that make sense for both the user and project strategy. Thus far, I have contributed to the Target, Kraft, Visa, and Charles Schwab accounts.

INTERACTION DESIGNER, SIEMENS CORPORATE RESEARCH, PRINCETON, 2008-2009
Completed a six month internship in a cross-functional research environment as an Interaction Designer working on a wide range of different projects ranging in Automation and Control, Imaging and Visualization, and Real-Time Vision and Modeling. Primary projects involved ideating and designing concepts, storyboards, and functional prototypes for High Performance Buildings and Healthcare Solutions.

USER EXPERIENCE ASSOCIATE, RESEARCH IN MOTION, WATERLOO, 2008
Worked as an user experience design associate to enhance the use of Research in Motion’s Blackberry smartphones along with related software applications. Core responsibilities included conducting detailed heuristic evaluations, designing concepts, and presenting analysis to both managers and clients.

Worked in both workshop and one-on-one environments to teach first year students introductory level skills in their completion of graphic, video, and web based projects.

ITALIA DESIGN FIELD SCHOOL, ITALY, 2007
Recruited to be part of a twelve person research team to study Italia design and culture for one year. Interviewed and studied highly respected designers/architects in Roma, Firenze, Toscana and Milano. The study served as year four of a comprehensive five year research project into the unique and innovative methodology behind Italian design. Developed strong understanding of user-centered and contextual design, as well as innovation.
