ADVENTURE CITY
THE HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC SCHOOL OF DESIGN
Two week project to explore a new tangible interaction concept. The result was Adventure Island, an online role playing game that exists in the real world. Player join using next generation game devices and through augmented reality, virtual objects, characters, and enemies are embedded in the environment to be discovered.

The main objective of the game is for players to explore their surroundings and hunt for hidden treasures either by themselves, with their friends, and with nearby players. In order to unlock hidden treasures, players must use various actions associated with different discoveries. This may include such actions as digging, fishing, and hammering.

Monsters are scattered around the city to protect the greatest treasures, and will require epic single and multi-player battles in order to defeat. Players must work together utilizing various weapons and gestures. Players find different treasures in order to customize their character, upgrade their weapons, and can even earn real world benefits such as coupons to local establishments.

This project is currently undergoing further design and development in order to properly realize.
