CONSUME NOW / THINK LATER
SIMON FRASER UNIVERISTY + SURREY FRASER HEIGHTS SECONDARY SCHOOL
An interactive art display created by a fourth-year class at Simon Fraser University that allowed students of a local high school to experience how their actions affect the environment. The exhibit occupied four spaces – three spaces devoted to particular aspects of the environment – resource consumption, transportation and urban sprawl – and a main space that allowed students to see the effects generated in the other three spaces displayed on a large-screen projector.
The theme of the project was to bring the issue of over-consumption to the forefront by generating thought and promoting discourse.
This installation was setup and exhibited live at Fraser Heights Secondary School in Surrey as part of the Environment Week on the 26th of April, 2007. More than 100 students went through the exhibition over a 2 hour span and the response was very positive.
I assumed the role of Creative Director in a large fifty-plus man team to develop a collaborative and interactive exhibition experience.
